Dragon Xpress is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join our team. The Safety and Compliance Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations regarding the transportation and logistics industry. This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance with safety standards, driver qualifications, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of compliance requirements in the trucking and transportation sector.
Job Responsibilities:
The Safety and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and compliance initiative to ensure the organization meets all regulatory requirements and maintains a safe working environment. This role involves monitoring operation, conduction audits, providing training, and ensuring adherence to local, state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, FMCSA, DOT).
- Stay updated on changes in safety laws and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
- Safety Program Development and Monitoring:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
- Create emergency response plans and ensure they are communicated to all employees.
- Monitor driver safety scores and driving behavior daily, and provide corrective conversations and trainings on the spot
- Training and Education:
- Organize and conduct safety training sessions for drivers, including new hire orientation and ongoing training.
- Ensure all employees are aware of safety protocols and compliance requirements.
- Provide specialized training for drivers
- Audits and Inspections:
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations.
- Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Track and document corrective actions to ensure issues are resolved.
- Incident Investigation:
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Maintain records of all incidents and ensure proper reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits or inspections.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Work closely with management, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety and compliance-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with external agencies, auditors, and inspectors as needed.
- Continuous Improvement
- Analyze safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Recommend and implement strategies to enhance safety and compliance programs.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
Skills:

Required Experience
- 2 years of experience in safety, compliance, or a related role.
- Experience in industries such as transportation, construction, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, CHST) are a plus.
