Job Summary:
The Safety Coordinator will primarily focus on ensuring compliance with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and construction safety standards. This role requires a qualified professional with extensive travel within the regional area, up to 85% of the time. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with management to promote a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across all company facilities, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
· Assist in investigating workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
· Facilitate safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations and refresher courses.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry safety standards, best practices, and regulatory changes.
· Monitor personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and ensure that employees are adhering to safety protocols.
· Prepare and submit safety reports to management, highlighting key issues and recommended solutions.
· Coordinate safety drills and emergency response procedures, ensuring employees are adequately trained to handle emergencies.
· Collaborate with HR and management to ensure the safe integration of new equipment or procedures.
· Assist in maintaining safety records, including injury logs and incident reports.
· Promote a safety-first culture across the company and support employee engagement in safety initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, EPA, First Aid/CPR, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar) is highly preferred.
· Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and standards.
· Experience in safety practices ideally in a construction, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
· In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
· Strong communication and training skills to engage with all levels of staff and management.
· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to perform safety inspections in various environments, including outdoor areas or industrial settings.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and wear PPE as required.
Travel Requirements:
· Extensive travel within the regional area, up to 85% of the time.
