Position Title: Director of Volunteer Engagement
Reports to: Dream Centers Director of Operations
Supervises: Volunteers and Volunteer Leaders
Schedule: Full time, hourly
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Dream Centers is a faith-based non-profit organization founded in 2011 that serves women and kids with nowhere else to turn, empowering them to break cycles of poverty and hopelessness and rebuild dreams. Dream Centers currently runs two programs, the Women’s Clinic and Mary’s Home, and will soon launch a third program, Big Dream Early Learning.
The Women’s Clinic provides free women’s health (GYN), behavioral health, and wrap-around services to uninsured women in Colorado.
Mary’s Home is a long-term transitional housing program for single mothers and children who are seeking to overcome homelessness and build a brighter future.
Big Dream Early Learning is “daycare and preschool ” specially designed to bridge the gap between early childhood trauma and hopeful futures. With Big Dream, we will help children 0-6 years old rewire brains, restore hearts, and build resilient families.

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Volunteer Engagement is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive volunteer program that supports all Dream Centers initiatives. This position will design and implement volunteer recruitment strategies, create engaging volunteer experiences, and develop systems to ensure effective volunteer management across the organization.
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Director of Volunteer Engagement reports to the Dream Centers Director of Operations and works closely with staff members who lead volunteer teams across all Dream Centers programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy aligned with Dream Centers' mission and values
- Create and maintain volunteer engagement policies, procedures, and best practices
- Build and nurture relationships with community partners to expand volunteer recruitment channels
- Collaborate with program leaders to understand volunteer needs and design appropriate recruitment and retention strategies
- Establish metrics and reporting systems to track volunteer engagement and impact
Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding
- Design and execute volunteer recruitment campaigns across multiple channels
- Maintain an efficient volunteer screening and vetting process
- Create and maintain a comprehensive volunteer onboarding program
- Develop clear systems for matching volunteers with appropriate opportunities
- Establish effective processes for transitioning vetted volunteers to program staff and volunteer leaders
Volunteer Experience & Retention
- Create a welcoming and inclusive volunteer culture that encourages long-term engagement
- Design recognition and appreciation programs to celebrate volunteer contributions
- Develop feedback mechanisms to continuously improve the volunteer experience
- Organize volunteer appreciation events and recognition initiatives
- Maintain regular communication with volunteer base through newsletters and other channels
- Creates and manages opportunities for groups to serve together on group projects such as City Serve.
Systems & Operations Management
- Act as system administrator for volunteer management software across Dream Centers programs
- Process volunteer applications, Release of Liability Waivers, background checks, motor vehicle records, and other necessary documentation.
- Recruit volunteers through various online channels such as DreamCenters.com, Spark the Change, VolunteerMatch, community/church events and peer to peer recruiting
- Ensure all volunteer hours are properly tracked by volunteer leaders
- Maintain and update volunteer handbooks and training materials
- Develop and track volunteer engagement metrics and impact measurements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures
- Manage volunteer engagement budget
- Store electronic volunteer personnel files securely according to best practice
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- 5 years of expertise in volunteer management or similar role.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling volunteer programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with volunteer management software
- Project management and organizational abilities
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- The ability to rightly handle sensitive, confidential information
- The ability to work under pressure and with frequently changing priorities
- Ability to effectively articulate Dream Centers’ mission to community members both in individual and group settings
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Certification in Volunteer Management through CCVA
- Experience in nonprofit leadership
- Experience with Volgistics software
- Knowledge of volunteer engagement best practices
- Experience with community outreach and partnership development
- Background in program development and evaluation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends for volunteer events
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for event setup
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- $25 - $27 per hour, 40 hours per week
