Purpose:
The New Mexico Campaign Coordinator is an integral part of the Dream.Org Justice team. Drug overdose deaths continue to rise in New Mexico and Dream.org seeks an individual to help spread awareness and to build a space for unlikely allies to work together to inspire change. The New Mexico Campaign Coordinator will work under the direction of the Dream.Org Justice Campaign Director to build and implement a New Mexico-specific plan to mobilize directly impacted communities, service providers, business leaders, and those affected by drug policy to advocate for state-wide change to the criminal legal system. Your role is to shift the way New Mexico political stakeholders understand the overdose crisis and to engage and galvanize communities to fight for policy change by means of: the execution of community events throughout the state, utilizing online organizing platforms, and providing educational training.
Note: This is a 1-Year grant-funded position with continued employment contingent on funding
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute on-the-ground campaign events, such as educational community convenings and training
- Hold select relationships with external partners, including faith leaders, business leaders, and direct service providers
- Collaborate with digital organizers to create engaging online campaign content and action opportunities
- Assist with advocacy skills training for directly impacted New Mexicans and other stakeholders
- Draft campaign materials, such as toolkits and one-pagers
- Build and lead a diverse coalition of New Mexicans who come together to advocate for drug policy change
Minimum Job Requirements:
- At least 1 year working on either drug policy, grassroots organizing, or social justice/political campaigns
- Sophistication around a variety of campaign tactics, including in-person actions and online actions that educate and advocate for change
- Comfort with online tools associated with campaigns, such as Asana, Salesforce, Slack
- A demonstrated commitment to criminal justice reform, we value the lived experience of applicants
- Must be willing and available to travel; specifically, throughout the state of New Mexico
- Track record of executing community events
- Familiarity with coalition leadership and recruitment

30% for community organizing, education and coalition building

After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream.Org offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream.Org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.Org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
