Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to join our small, highly motivated, and fast-paced team. The Director of Operations has responsibility for all areas of operation, including manufacturing, distribution, production planning and quality control. As we are currently a small team, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and not afraid to get their hands dirty and do the work themselves. The person in this role will collaborate with the executive team to shape the company’s manufacturing and distribution strategies over time while building an operations team around them to support our rapid growth.
Responsibilities:
- Build and own the operating model. Collaborate with the executive team and finance to forecast product demand and target inventory levels, then translate targets into purchase orders and production levels for manufacturing and distribution partners
- Oversee and direct all aspects of day-to-day operations, from sourcing raw materials/inputs to final customer order fulfillment, ensuring on-time and cost-effective delivery throughout the manufacturing and fulfillment process
- Manage third-party manufacturing relationships. Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensure quality control and compliance with safety standards, send purchase orders, keep partners abreast of forecasted production runs, and hold partners accountable to agreed-upon SLAs/KPIs
- Collaborate with the the executive team and others to integrate product improvements and new product designs into the manufacturing supply chain
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement long-term operational strategies that align with the company’s vision, goals, and values
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, capital investment, and continuous improvements in operational efficiency to meet company goals
- Build and lead a high-performing operations team by providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of improvement to drive excellence
- Partner with the finance team to develop and manage operational budgets
- Regularly report on operational KPIs and variance to targets
Qualifications:
- Desire to take ownership and build something new and exciting
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations roles; minimum 2 years in an operations management role
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, procurement and quality assurance systems
- Expertise in strategic planning, resource allocation, and financial oversight
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
- Highly self-motivated and willing to roll-up the sleeves to get the work done
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Experience working with or in 3PL, cut-and-sew, and/or textile manufacturing businesses heavily preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, industrial management, or a related field preferred
