Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our behavioral health team. Duties
- Review patient records to ensure accurate billing and coding using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG systems.
- Process medical claims for reimbursement from insurance providers.
- Conduct follow-up on outstanding claims and manage medical collections efficiently.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient information or billing details.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and billing regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare and submit accurate invoices to patients and third-party payers in a timely manner.
- Resolve billing issues by communicating effectively with patients, insurance companies, and medical office staff.
- Generate reports on billing activities and collections for management review.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a behavioral health setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG systems.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance verification procedures.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
