Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a large southeastern law firm with a growing national practice, is seeking a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Attorney to join our renowned Intellectual Property group. Recognized by Best Lawyers in America and the IAM Patent 1000, our attorneys are dedicated to excellence in patent law.We are looking for an attorney with a PhD in a life sciences discipline, such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Biosensors, Medicine, Medical Devices, or Metallurgy, and a minimum of 5 years of patent prosecution experience. Candidates must be registered and in good standing with the USPTO. We are particularly interested in those with expertise in enzymes, electrochemical or amperometric analyte sensing, RNA / DNA / Aptamer signal transducers, membranes and redox mediators, polymer chemistry, and inorganic / steel chemistry.In this role, you will analyze and evaluate cutting-edge scientific inventions, draft and prosecute patent applications, and conduct thorough research on diverse technologies. You will collaborate closely with inventors and colleagues to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and concise patent applications and Office Action responses. Additionally, you will prepare novelty and freedom-to-operate opinions, conduct due diligence work, and mentor junior associates to achieve optimal client outcomes.JOB REQUIREMENTS Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent degree)PhD in a life sciences discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Biosensors, Medicine, Medical Devices, Metallurgy).Minimum of 5 years of experience with patent preparation and prosecution.Registered and in good standing with the USPTO.Admitted to and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.Excellent scientific / technical ability and drafting skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Team player with a desire to learn and grow your skill set.BENEFITS AT MOORE & VAN ALLEN We are committed to supporting our attorneys in achieving a fulfilling work-life balance.
