- Assists the Driscoll Compliance Department with conducting compliance activities and HIPAA privacy investigations.
- Manages auditing and monitoring of business units to determine compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provides compliance and HIPAA privacy new hire orientation and targeted training.
- Conducts compliance and HIPAA privacy site rounding to include, but not limited to, HIPAA privacy walk-throughs, reviews for required signage and rounding needed as output to a reported potential compliance violation.
- Participate in the development of appropriate workflows and corrective actions to address identified gaps and deficiencies. Develop compliance and privacy risk assessments for gaps identified and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assists with internal compliance document and information requests and retrieval.
- Conduct onsite regulatory compliance gap assessments.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Serve as a resource for questions regarding application of relevant laws and regulations and the compliance and privacy program policies and procedures. Research relevant compliance and privacy regulations as needed or requested and provide written guidance to affected parties.
- Prepares, drafts and reviews compliance documents. This may include policies, regulatory submissions, memos, forms, and reports. Edits written material for accuracy, format and arrangement of material.
- Participates in work groups and committees applicable to regulatory compliance as needed.
- Assist with the coordination of regulatory or internal audit activities including audit interviews, information gathering, and testing.
- Assists with review and coordinating service of subpoenas.
- Performs other related duties as reasonably assigned.
- Role involves occasional travel to various Driscoll locations.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred (JD, legal studies, paralegal, compliance/regulatory, preferred), paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience a health care, hospital, managed care or other regulatory setting.
- Compliance or privacy certification preferred (CHC, CHPC, CIPM, etc.)
- Ability to read and comprehend statues, laws, rules, regulations and standards.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent formatting skills. Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and credible communications with administration, medical staff, departments and personnel.
- Demonstrates polished interpersonal skills, high energy, and flexibility.
- Strong computer skills.
