PURPOSE :
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the consistent production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer specifications and regulatory standards. This role involves collaborating with OEM customers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Quality Engineer plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, overseeing quality assurance processes, and solving complex quality-related issues to support the company’s commitment to excellence
POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Customer and Supplier Collaboration : Serve as the primary interface with major OEM customers and suppliers, ensuring clear communication, timely issue resolution, and fostering strong, long-term relationships.
- Root Cause Analysis : Lead and facilitate thorough root cause analysis for both customer complaints and internal manufacturing issues, utilizing proven problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5W’s, and CAPA.
- PPAP Submissions : Ensure the accurate, timely submission of PPAP documentation to meet customer specifications and requirements, ensuring smooth product launches and regulatory compliance.
- New Product Development : Actively contribute to new product reviews and launches by participating in cross-functional teams, offering valuable insights on design, quality standards, and manufacturability.
- FMEA and Control Plans : Collaborate in the development and maintenance of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), ensuring they are up-to-date throughout the lifecycle of the product. Maintain and update Control Plans to reflect current processes.
- Continuous Quality Improvement : Identify and drive continuous improvements in design and manufacturing processes with a focus on enhancing product quality, increasing efficiency, improving safety, and reducing costs.
- Technical Expertise : Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of metallurgy, machine shop practices, plating techniques, and quality control methodologies. Apply expertise in metrology, GD&T, SPC, and statistical data analysis to monitor and improve product quality.
- Quality Tools Proficiency : Utilize APQP core tools, Gage R&R, and other quality management tools effectively to meet customer requirements and improve internal processes.
- Problem-Solving Leadership : Lead CAPA activities, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Quality Systems Management : Maintain and enhance the organization’s quality management systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as TS 16949, ISO, and other relevant quality frameworks.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university with a major field of study in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or technology engineering; or five years of related experience and / or training & tech; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preference will be given to individuals holding a B.S. in engineering and those with experience in quality control functions. Preference will be given to individuals with;
LANGUAGE ABILITY :
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, engineering and shop drawings with specifications, process sheets, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have good communication skills.
MATH ABILITY :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of manufacturing, engineering, and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, and graphs) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work with close tolerances.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be flexible in work assignments and be able to work cooperatively as a team member and demonstrate respect and courtesy to all internal and external customers.
COMPUTER SKILLS :
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Manufacturing software and Database software. (e.g. statistical analysis)
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES :
No certifications needed. Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
This job may have supervisory responsibilities.

The employee will be working with precision measuring instruments, computers, calculator, printer, scanner, fax machine, copy machine, weight scales and hand truck.
