What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Drug Emporium?
Basic Function:
The position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's financial results and ensure the reported results comply with the generally accepted accounting principles.
Management
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Payroll systems - Paycor
- Manage outsource functions
- Oversight of the operations of the P & L statements/backroom function
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Retail inventory systems working with physical inventory systems
Reporting/Compliance
- Issue timely and accurate monthly financial statements including posting journal entries for 9 retail store locations using Microsoft Solomon accounting software
- Review of annual W-2's and Form 940, quarterly Forms 941 and state unemployment reports for Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas as prepared by payroll software
- Annual preparation of data required for LIFO and 263a inventory reporting
- Assist in the preparation of 1095-C and 1094 forms using online systems
- Prepare data as required by outside CPA firm to prepare annual tax returns for all business entities
- Data required for annual 401k plan audit, if needed
- Preparation and filing of monthly sales tax reports for Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas
- Prepare and file annual property tax renditions for 10 locations in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas
- Maintain fixed asset systems
- Prepare reports required by 3rd party vendor for discrimination testing of the Section 125 plan
- Prepare reporting for Fidelity investments 401k retirement systems
- Coordinate with 3rd party vendor for support of Microsoft Solomon software
- Prepare various reports and charts as requested to assist in the management of store operations
- Review monthly bank statements for all entities
- Provide oversight and assistance for accounts payable and payroll functions
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors as required
- Prepare ads and work with store managers with policy compliance
- Other assigned duties to assist President and CEO
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $106,818.00 per year
