This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Data Analytics (ASD). The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a key analyst and recognized expert who performs professional and scientific work requiring design, development, and adaptation of mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.

Duties
Your typical work assignments may include :
- Serving as a data manager, advisor, and consultant to the Chief Data Officer.
- Advising on DEA's strategic direction regarding Artificial Intelligence and emerging technology.
- Identifying opportunities for leveraging enterprise data to drive existing or emerging trends and issues.
- Determining efficient techniques to operate, monitor, and maintain processes for data extraction.
- Developing, designing, and implementing analytical insights for organizational processes, systems, and structures in support of DEA's strategic direction.

142,488 - $185,234 / year

Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application.
Basic Qualification Requirements :
A. Degree : Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
B. Combination of education and experience : Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
Applicants applying for the GS- 14 must meet one of the following requirements :
A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS- 13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following : 1) Utilizing testing environments to enable evaluation and utilization of Artificial Intelligence; 2) Performing analysis of statistical data and findings; 3) Utilizing statistical methods and techniques; 4) Interpreting data findings, trends, and patterns and communicating to management to mitigate potential risks.
Time-In-Grade Requirement
Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Education
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
