Duties/Responsibilities:
Reception:
Reception is the first point of contact for clients; it is very important to have a helpful, kind and a problem solver. Below is a list of tasks that you will need to be able to do independently and efficiently.
- Warmly greet clients when they come into the lobby.
- Answer the phones promptly and answer all questions to the best of your ability (if you don’t know ASK)
- Complete all necessary call backs throughout the day.
- Schedule appointments for both Dr. Zwart and the working technician.
- Be able to write, complete and maintain paper charts
- Be able to alphabetize client charts and place them back in the appropriate filing cabinet.
- Be able to pull charts for surgical, doctor and technician appointments.
- Generalized organizational skills.
- Be well versed in the products that we carry.
- Be able to kill out surgical/hospitalization consent forms with client signature.
- Be able to process payments for current payment plans.
- Collect cash, debit/credit, checks for any/all payments; be able to set up payment plans if needed.
- Be able to fill out all additional paperwork at the time of service (ex Vaccine certificates)
- Place orders over the phone if needed.
- Be able to send records to other clinics and the clients if needed.
- Generalized inventory of prescription foods, flea/tick/heart worm, and office supplies.
Veterinary Assistant:
The VA role is one that is very important within our small so every role is important. This is a hands on role where you will be expected to interact with clients, patients and the remainder of the care team. Below is a list of tasks that you will need to be able to do independently and efficiently.
- Write, maintain and complete charting when necessary.
- Be able to restrain all sizes of cats, dogs and sometimes rabbits for exams, bloodwork, nail trims, anal glands, ear cleanings etc
- Be able to prepare the patient for surgical procedures (ex shaving, scrubbing, moving)
- Be able to maintain the cleanliness of the kennel, surgical suite and treatment.
- Be able to restock the treatment area, exam rooms and pharmacy as needed.
- Be able to set up exam rooms, treatment, surgical suite, and radiology for the appropriate procedures without needing to be asked.
- Be able to clean and maintain autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, lab machines weekly.
- Be able to log client and patient information into CUBEX and Antech lab systems
- Be able to run chemistries, CBC, LHWT and more.
- Be able to set up for urinalysis/in house fecal for technician.
- Be able to set up IDEXX fecal for send out; be able to set up for Antech lab work and histopathology.
- Be able to feed, medicate, clean, walk/scoop after surgical and hospitalized patients throughout the day.
Generalized Tasks:
- You most be able to lift and move up to 50lbs
- You must be able to work within the united states.
- You will help maintain the cleanliness of the ENTIRE clinic on a daily basis in collaboration with other staff.
- You must be comfortable getting on the floor and standing back up.
- You must follow all policies of the clinic and any governing authority (state or federal govt)

Pay: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour
