As the Yard Assistant, you will assist the Shop Manager in keeping the equipment shop and yard in order, helping to load and unload equipment for the maintenance team, assist in the cleanup of equipment as needed, running parts, and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Essential Responsibilities :
Keep the shop and yard in order, which includes : receiving equipment, notifying shop personnel of equipment arrivals and departures.Help with loading and unloading of equipment.Cleanup / washing of equipment prior to entering shop.Keeping the shop and equipment yard clean and maintained (inside and out).Running parts as needed to all locations.Other duties assigned by the Shop Manager, or designee and Equipment Manager.Equipment preparation such as preparing / constructing bridge forms as well as aiding mechanics and fabricators as time permits.General building / facility maintenanceTakes ownership of the wash bay and sustains all 5S standards.Other duties as assigned by the Equipment ManagerKnowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Ability to learn to operate equipment to allow for appropriate movement within the yardDetail orientated, showing ability to multitask and prioritize tasksStrong communicator with the ability to work with a variety of peopleAble to work independently while following Supervisor’s instructionsGeneral carpentry and maintenance experience preferredEducation & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent education and / or trainingSelf-motivated and self-starterForklift CertificationValid Driver’s License and safe driving record requiredCDL, Class A license, preferred, or able to acquire during first year of employmentApplicants must be 18 years of age or older.Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Familiarity with Spanish a plus.Duininck does not sponsor, renew, or extend immigration visas for this position.Work Environment & Physical Requirements :
Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 poundsRegularly required to drive and negotiate various job sites, which can include climbing on / off equipment, ladders, etc.Ability to work both indoors and outside, in all types of weatherWalk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sitTravel as requiredThis year-round, full-time position comes with a strong benefits package including :
