Engineering Manager
To expand our engineering leadership capacity, we are adding the role of Engineering Manager. This role, reporting to the Director of NPD, will oversee a team of Engineers, Designers and Specialists, focusing on production/serving and related appliance projects. This team will have primary focus on refrigeration products but could expand into some special heated appliances.
Duke views an engineer as a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to develop solutions for our customers' foodservice challenges. Engineers design materials, structures, and systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety, reliability, and cost.
Primarily responsible to oversee a portfolio of projects within the development team as well as personally lead more complex projects. Collective responsibilities included mechanical components, subassemblies, and mechanical systems. Ensures a high-quality standard for products with respect to materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of electromechanical systems.
Job Description
This position is responsible for leading a New Product Development team in designing systems for initiatives related to food service equipment/appliances. Primarily responsible for the Mechanical Design concept layout of systems with emphasis on the Refrigeration, and or Heated subsets including the electro-mechanical interface. This individual will draw on their experience to help with early requirements definition, concept design, taking these initial concepts to a 3-d CAD design protype phase, creating accurate/complete 3-d CAD layouts, and using proper design tolerance practices. Capable hands-on manager able to work firsthand in the lab and factory visits as needed.
This team will create prototype drawing packages, lead building of prototypes, & supervise assembly with support from laboratory technicians. Oversee the testing phase, write test plans, implement test plan, review data, and make recommendations to achieve the overall system performance specifications.
Team Responsibilities additionally include completing all ERP, final design package, Engineering Change order Releases & End of line testing updates to support manufacturing new production launch. All while supporting and following our Duke Design Process (DDS) including supporting role as the projects moves to the commercialization phase. This role is important for Duke as a technical advisor, coach, manager, and people developer. In some projects would take the role of "Technical Lead" directly.

- 10 years minimum 3-D SolidWorks (or related) design & drawing package
- Understanding of tolerance stack and design for manufacturability
- Experience with part and assembly design for related or varying manufacturing process Sheetmetal, machined parts, turned lathe, injection molding, metal stampings, gear design, etc.
- Specifying purchases parts heating elements, refrigeration components, solenoids, motors, fans, PCB control options, Sensor integration/position
- Basic knowledge of controls, sensors & how they function within systems
- Testing environment and data analysis

- Leadership Experience, successful project, or small team management
- Design for Food Service, Appliance, Vending, HVAC, Sheetmetal, or related

- Strong Leaders Skills, teamwork, & planning
- Bachelor's Science in Mechanical Engineering or related (ABET required)
- 8-15 years' experience, 3-5 Engineering management
- All Candidates with closely matched Working Experience directly related to Duke products will be considered
- Travel to the MFG plant in Sedalia MO as required
- Industry experience is a plus Refrigeration/HVAC, Food Equipment, Heated products, Gas Burners, Vending, Automation, Medical Device.
