Duke's is now looking for a new Direction Drilling Assistant to join our Direction Drilling team based out of Livonia, MI! Come learn about the underground infrastructure industry and get paid to do meaningful work.

What You Will Do:
As the Direction Drilling Assistant (aka Field Technician), your day will typically start at 6:30am, but flexibility is required. You will be responsible for all activities related to assisting the Direction Drilling Operator and completing the necessary task on the jobsite as they relate to direction drilling services. You will be responsible for setting up assisting with direction drilling work, properly maintaining equipment, back filling of holes, site restoration, assisting with traffic control needs and ensuring a safe working environment. You will also be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and effective performance of all work in accordance with company-wide policies and procedures. You will:
- Maintain all working equipment in good operating condition
- Haul and tow equipment to and from job site - you will drive a 2500 while pulling various sized trailers, safety equipment, and spoils
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner
- Assist Direction Drilling Operator with direction drilling work
- Back fill holes and perform site restoration (topsoil, seeding)
- Assist in tracking daily production and reporting of completed work
- Assist with traffic control
- Perform other duties as needed

- Have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR record
- Are willing to undergo a background and MVR check, drug screen and DOT physical
- Enjoy working outside in all weather conditions
- Are able to work overtime as needed
- Are able to drive a 2500 while pulling various sized trailers, safety equipment, and spoils, required
- Have solid computer skills (i.e., use of computer tablets, uploading and downloading files)
- Are able to lift up to 50lbs continuously throughout the day
- Are able to work in confined spaces, wear and use confined space entry restraints, and enter structures with 24 internal diameter openings or larger continuously throughout the day if needed
- Have strong interpersonal skills and like working as part of a team
- Travel requirement - The ability to travel overnight is not required, but rather on a volunteer basis (additional benefits are provided for overnight travel).
Additional information:
- Hours are Monday Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (hours vary depending on project)
- There will be additional hours based upon job needs
- May be required to report to multiple different shop locations based on project needs
