Position Description

The Sport Club Athletic Trainer is a part-time position under the supervision of the Director of Sport Programs. The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing care and event coverage at assigned Sport Club home events. Additionally, this position will work on a rotation of our Sport Club Injury Clinic which is Wednesday nights 6-8pm during the semester.

This will be done through education as well as the identification and removal of barriers for staff, faculty, and/or participants.

Standard Responsibilities

  • Provide Athletic Training services for the Sport Club Program at home competitions and select off campus competitions
  • Provide Athletic Training services for Sport Club Athletes in a Drop In Clinic setting
  • Have an understanding of the Sport Club Emergency Action Plan and Duke Recreation and Physical Education Risk Management Policies and Procedures
  • Refer Sport Club Athletes to medical partners within Duke University as needed
  • Ensure the accuracy and completion of all required shift paperwork and injury reporting in adherence to record keeping protocols mandated by HIPPA
  • Assist with inventory of medical supplies, recommend new supplies to purchase
  • Attend and assist with Duke Recreation & Physical Education special events

Required Qualifications

  • NCBATE licensed or eligible NATABOC certification valid in the state of North Carolina
  • Maintain, or possess the ability to obtain, CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hiring
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Anticipated Pay Range

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 43,888.00 to USD $70,300.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate' s work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Education

Work requires knowledge of the general principles of preventive physical care for athletes, first ai d treatment and referral, and postinjury rehabilitation normally acquire d through a bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine or other related Athletic Trainer program. National Athletic Trainers Association certification is required.

Experience

Work requires one year experience participating in various administrative, educational or medical supp ort services such as coordinating arrangements for appointments and activities, participating in physical training tasks and instructions, providing first aid treatment or other related functions in order to acquire skills necessary to participate in a comprehensive sports medical program for intercollegiate athletes.
