Overview
Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Laundry Operator is responsible for the efficient processing of linens and other textiles used in the facility, ensuring that all items are cleaned, sanitized and delivered in a timely manner. The Laundry Operator will work closely with other team members to manage the workflow and adhere to strict health and safety regulations.
Essential Functions
- Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washers and dryers.
- Sort, wash, dry and fold linens and garments according to established procedures.
- Inspect laundered items for quality and report any damage or issues to the supervisor.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of laundry processed and assist in inventory management of laundry supplies.
Education and Experience
1 year of experience in laundry in the healthcare industry is required.Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.General knowledge of proper laundry cleaning methods in a medical facility including proper use of supplies and equipment.Basic knowledge of safe operation and proper use of machinery, tools, supplies, and equipment.Effective interpersonal skills.Requires ability to accurately plan work routine and complete assigned duties in allotted time with appropriate supervisory assistance.Ability to carry out directions, follow schedule, and prioritize.Requires physical ability to push equipment and linen cart.Ability to work alone and as part of a team.Environment and Working Conditions
Ability to focus on task needs and perform intellectual executive functions as related to the functions of the environmental services operation.Ability to execute intellectual tasks and duties under conditions of high demand and distraction.Ability to complete the essential functions of the position with or with adaptive personal devices (e.g., hearing aid, corrective lenses).Ability to operate equipment and technology required for the position.Able to wear personal protective equipment.Must be able to communicate effectively.Able to assist with the evacuation of residents under emergency status to the best of their physical ability.Able to function independently with integrity and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.Able to constantly stand, walk, and move intermittently throughout the workday.Able to frequently push and / or pull a force of up to 26 pounds as relates to laundry cart, trash, etc.Able to reach overhead, bend, and occasionally carry or lift up to 50 pounds and frequently carry or lift up to 35 pounds.Able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.Hours
Full-time, 1st shift : Monday-Friday, 7 : 00am-3 : 00pm
