What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary Trainee position at Dunnion Law?

We are looking to hire candidates for our Legal Secretary Trainee position, so if you are looking to potentially start a career, rather than just finding your next job, this position can hold a great opportunity for you!
There is no previous law office experience required for this role and we encourage dedicated individuals with an interest in the legal field to apply! We equally care about who you are as a person and what you are capable of learning to do. Although this is an entry-level position, we are a busy office and there is plenty of fast-paced and hard work to be done on behalf of our injured clients. Bilingual English/Spanish speakers are highly preferred.

Essentials for applying:
-We are a heavy technology use law firm. You must have basic Windows computer skills, word processing skills and a typing ability of 50 WPM minimum.
-We are a high call volume law firm. You must have an ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of clients and other professionals from all over the state or country.
-You are responsible and have reliable transportation. You can commit to full-time, in-person work from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., with an hour lunch break each day.
-You are professional in your demeanor, communication and appearance.
What you'll be doing:
-Assisting an attorney and primary secretary with daily job functions, such as: answering calls from clients and claims adjusters, opening claims with insurance carrier, drafting correspondence and legal documents, compiling demand evidence packages, drafting and responding to discovery, preparing settlement documentation and more. Your work here will directly have an impact for our client’s likelihood for success!
-New hires spend the first few days learning the phones, our potential client intake process, and our basic office procedures. The following few weeks, you will learn more about the programs and systems we use, the basic components of a case file and how to assist the attorney with the tasks listed above. After that, the sky is the limit! There is room for growth and an ability to gain paralegal skills in your role. Most of our paralegals started at Dunnion Law as their first legal job.

Pay and other perks:
Between $23 - $25/hour depending on work history, relevant skills and experience. This position is also eligible for benefit options such as health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan participation, paid sick time, paid holidays and paid vacation days.
