Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist plays a critical role in safeguarding the health and well-being of patients and staff within healthcare settings. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular surveillance of infection rates and trends within the facility.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to educate staff on infection control practices and protocols.
- Monitor patient care environments to ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection prevention guidelines.
- Perform patient observations to identify potential infection risks and implement appropriate interventions.
- Participate in the investigation of infection outbreaks, conducting root cause analyses, and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of infection control activities, including data collection and reporting.
- Provide training sessions for staff on topics related to infection prevention, including OSHA standards and critical care protocols.
Experience
- A background in healthcare settings such as hospitals or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology, epidemiology, patient monitoring, and patient observation techniques is essential.
