Infection Preventionist

Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist plays a critical role in safeguarding the health and well-being of patients and staff within healthcare settings. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control programs to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of epidemiology, aseptic techniques, and regulatory standards such as OSHA and HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular surveillance of infection rates and trends within the facility.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to educate staff on infection control practices and protocols.
• Monitor patient care environments to ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection prevention guidelines.
• Perform patient observations to identify potential infection risks and implement appropriate interventions.
• Participate in the investigation of infection outbreaks, conducting root cause analyses, and recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of infection control activities, including data collection and reporting.
• Provide training sessions for staff on topics related to infection prevention, including OSHA standards and critical care protocols.

Experience

• A background in healthcare settings such as hospitals or assisted living facilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of physiology, epidemiology, patient monitoring, and patient observation techniques is essential.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to infection control, including HIPAA compliance.
• Experience in critical care environments is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to effectively educate staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.46 - $42.51 per hour
