What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consumer Lending Consultant position at Dupaco?
The Consumer Lending Consultant is responsible for handling a large volume of consumer loans and building relationships with new and existing members. Within this role, the employee is also responsible for educating our members and cross selling financial products that will help our members achieve financial well-being.
What You'll Do:
- Provide superior member service as defined in the credit union vision, mission and values.
- Examine, evaluate and authorize to exercise independent judgment to grant/recommend approval or denial of loan application for consumer loans, home equity lines of credit, or credit card accounts.
- Work towards achieving underwriting authority.
- Interview direct applicants to determine consumer loan and overall financial needs and gather pertinent information for loan application.
- Meet or exceed the minimum standards of member plan participation of GAP/DPW, MBP, Loan Payment Protection, etc. as set by the credit union in order to achieve individual, department, and corporate goals.
- Successfully demonstrate effective selling skills and behaviors.
- Maintain a general understanding of Dupaco’s consumer loan policies and serve as a resource for other lenders throughout the credit union for lending solutions, appropriate structuring of loans, etc.
- Analyze application financial status, credit and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.
- Exhibit a thorough knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Compile loan package and facilitate negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options and other credit terms.
- Review, process and ensure direct loan agreements and documentation are complete, accurate, and prepared according to policy for scanning.
- Determine eligibility for membership and establish new member accounts that lead to long-term relationships.
- Initiate Money Makeovers and Credit History Lessons that would benefit members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of lending.
- Ability to analyze situations, exercise judgement, and make educated decisions.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Excellent computer skills
