DUPAGE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Position Title: Student Learning Facilitator
Status: Full-Time, benefits eligible
Job Classification: Learning Partnerships
Salary Range: $16-$18 per hour
Position Purpose: DuPage Children’s Museum Student Learning Facilitators bring joyful science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) learning experiences to children, from Kindergarten through Middle School.
The vision of DuPage Children’s Museum (DCM) is that all children thrive through access to extraordinary learning experiences. Student Learning Facilitators bring the vision of DCM to life for students in their classrooms and at DCM through engaging, learner-centered STEAM experiences. Programs may be delivered at DCM, local schools, or community organizations.
DCM’s Learning Lab Facilitators:
- Lead the facilitation of DCM’s Learning Labs and other programs (scout programs, family events, camps, etc.);
- Deliver education programming that is learner-centered, open-ended, and constructivist based;
- Support communication and follow up with program contacts (i.e. teachers, scout leaders, caregivers, etc.);
- Maintain materials used for programs and report stock and maintenance needs appropriately;
- Assist in the continuing improvement of existing programs and the development of new programs;
- Maintain records regarding delivery, attendance, and evaluation of programs;
- Assist in the training of new facilitators and volunteers;
- Work with school or organization staff to ensure smooth logistics and delivery of labs;
- Drive, load and unload materials, transport materials, and add gasoline to DCM vehicles. May also use a personal vehicle for these purposes.
Job Relationships:
- Supervised by the Director of Learning Partnerships;
- Collaborate thoughtfully with other members of the Student Learning Team;
- Work closely with all other departments, especially the Guest Experience department to ensure quality communication when facilitating programs at DCM;
- Maintain excellent relationships with personnel at schools and other organizations.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience and interest in working with school-age students;
- Experience working in STEAM education in a classroom, museum, or informal learning environment;
- Experience and comfort working with communities and cultures that are diverse, dynamic and ever-changing;
- 4-year degree in education, science, art, engineering, or mathematics OR other relevant background such as volunteering/work experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus;
- Must be an engaging and responsive facilitator of educational programming;
- Ability to work effectively with students in diverse classroom environments;
- Ability to create inclusive and safe learning experiences;
- Comfortable adapting to new situations and different collaboration styles;
- Must be curious, empathetic, and possess a growth mindset;
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends regularly;
- Must be able to work offsite, independently, and take initiative to solve problems;
- Comfortable working with others in collaborative settings to improve and plan programs;
- Must have computer skills involving, but not limited to, Google Suite and Microsoft Office;
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid Illinois driver’s license, and appropriate liability insurance.
DCM Benefits:

For full time employees (those scheduled to work 30 hours or more per calendar week) DCM offers an extensive medical and ancillary benefit package to include:
