Location: Woods Run Complex, downtown Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities:
- Analyzes trouble on distribution systems and networks, composes, and enacts a plan to isolate faulty equipment to minimize the number of affected customers and completely restore electric service as soon as possible.
- Directs the activities of the troubleshooters and other field personnel to investigate customer complaints, perform switching and clearing operations; and make temporary and permanent repairs to the transmission and distribution systems.
- Initiates, directs, and validates switching and clearing operations to clear lines and equipment for emergency and scheduled outages; establishes distribution operator clearances and supervises field personnel & construction supervisors in establishing and reporting on and off clearances, to ensure the safety of all field personnel when working on or near high-voltage equipment.
- Monitors and operates the automated distribution system utilizing the SCADA system computer to evaluate distribution system problems and remotely operate controllable devices to minimize the extent of service interruptions.
- Communicates service outage information, operating problems and status of trouble investigation and repair activities to field supervisors, Service Board, Corporate Communications, Marketing Representatives, Government Agencies, senior and general management.
- Responsible for investigation of all electric-related insurance claims, including depositions, and court appearances, if necessary.
- Performs all data entry regarding interruptions on the distribution system to establish Company performance statistics related to reliability measures (SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI).
Education/Experience:
- 5 Years industry specific experience or 7 years of relevant experience.
- Must be able to pass the company administered standardized test.
- Roles at this level typically require a university/college degree.

Physical Requirements:
Incumbent(s) work in a stressful control room atmosphere daily, which may include more than one shift schedule per week. During major storms and other emergencies, extended hours become necessary causing disruption of eating and sleeping patterns.
Storm Roles
All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset.
