POSITION SUMMARY :
The office of Campus Ministry is central to theMission of Duquesne University as a Roman Catholic, Spiritan University. Underthe direction of the Director of Spiritan Campus Ministry and as part of acollaborative team, the Director of Music and Liturgy will engage with allaspects of University life to realize the fullest expressions of the liturgicaland sacramental celebrations of the Church. As a committed Catholic musician,he / she will offer sincere Christian hospitality to all students, faculty andstaff. As a campus minister, he / she will welcome people of every language,faith and way of life, while focusing on the celebration of the Eucharist asthe "Source and summit of our faith" community. The Director of Music andLiturgy is a pastoral position and functions as a lay minister within thecontext of Duquesne University and the Catholic Church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Plansand accompanies daily Eucharist, Sunday Eucharist, penance services, OpeningMass of the Holy Spirit and Baccalaureate Masses, and other services.
Participatesin and plans for retreats, cross cultural trips, and ecumenical and interreligious prayer services.
Develops,plans, and leads the University Chapel Choir and cantors.
Develops,plans, and leads collaborative school liturgies (eg Music School, Pharmacy,Law, Education, etc.), alumni celebrations, and occasional funeral and memorialMasses.
Develops andcreates worship aides.
Maintains anunderstanding of and close working relationships with the Spiritan community,Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music, the Diocese of Pittsburgh,and other campus religious and civic leaders.
Serves as aresource for the Spiritan community, the Greek, Residence Life andInternational student communities, wedding couples, and community serviceactivities.
Completesother duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
Minimumqualifications :
Bachelor's degree in music or relatedfield from an accredited institution.
Experience as a pastoral musician in aCatholic environment.
Alternately,the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experienceand training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing :
Knowledgeof and experience with liturgy development.
Programplanning and coordination experience.
Demonstratedability to develop and oversee a group of liturgical ministers and other volunteers.
Abilityto engage with a variety of groups in a collegial, welcoming, and hospitablemanner.
