Heavy Cleaner I - Facilities Management (Multiple Positions) Salary: $20.19/hr POSITION: This hourly position is under direction of a Workleader or supervision of a Building Services Supervisor. Responsible for the cleanliness and order of areas to which assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities include but are not specifically limited to the following: Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips and polish floors. Cleans, dusts and disinfects furniture, fixtures or equipment as necessary. Cleans glass. Wash walls. Moves furniture, supplies, and equipment to accommodate cleaning or to set up areas for events. Collects and removes all rubbish to appropriate areas. Polishes metal fixtures or trimmings. Replaces incandescent/fluorescent luminaries while working at floor level in desk lamps, floor lamps, and wall lights in offices and vacant student rooms during the summer. Secures assigned areas after work is completed. Cleans and clears all entrance ways outside of buildings. Works when necessary from step ladders six feet or less in height. Spreads snow/ice melting agents and broom/squeegee snow as directed. Separates, collects, and removes recyclable materials to appropriate areas. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Daily clean-up of all assigned work areas - remove material, tools, and debris; maintain tools, equipment, and shop areas in a good, clean condition; report faulty equipment to supervision Notifies the Supervisor of unusual conditions caused by the work - power interruptions, smoke alarm trips, utility service shut-offs, etc. Assists any other Facilities Management employee if assistance is requested.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES AND REQUIRMENTS: Knowledge of: Building and facilities cleaning, safety and security. Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Customer service standards and procedures. Skills and Abilities to: Demonstrate general custodial experience including floor care from previous work experience or possess a willingness to learn. Handle interior off-the-floor work, wall washing, heavy trash disposal, window washing, and climbing scaffolds and step ladders six feet or less in height. Work well with others. Possess integrity and dependability. Be willing to follow instructions and handle related work as required. Have the ability and willingness to utilize and operate computerized technology and posses the willingness to learn. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision. REQUIREMENTS: Have the physical ability to perform all duties. Understand and support the University Mission Statement. REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION: Possess a High School or Vocational School diploma, GED or equivalent. WORKING CONDITIONS: Various indoor and outdoor environments; regular exposure to adverse weather conditions, humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and confined or high spaces; subject to power/manual tool, mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
