Supervisor Building Maintenance – Facilities Management Salary: Commensurate with experience POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director/Maintenance Operations, this position is
responsible for assigning and supervising the operational and maintenance tasks
of the assigned schedule group. The maintenance staff is tasked with the
operation and upkeep of buildings, equipment, life safety systems, and control
systems needed to effectively operate the university. This position interacts
directly with other Facilities Supervisors and schedule groups, Office of
Residence Life, Conference and Events Services, Public Safety, students, and
vendors. DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of union employees engaged in
repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, life safety system testing and
inspection, and other work related to building operations. Assigns work to
schedule group in response to requests from Residence Life staff and residents,
Public Safety, and Facilities supervisor on call. Utilizes Team
Dynamix computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to obtain, assign,
and close out work order requests from internal users, as well as scheduled
inspections and maintenance. Procures, manages
and schedules service contracts and other work by outside vendors. Maintains records
and submits reports as required by the Facilities Department, e.g., life safety
inspection records, parts and equipment inventories, maintenance and repair
lists, planned maintenance work schedules. Regularly
inspects all assigned buildings and makes recommendations related to necessary
building repairs, improvements for student residents, and changes that will
increase reliability and operational efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and
increase energy efficiency. Completes other
duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: Vocational or technical training. 3-5 years of
experience in a responsible supervisory position involving building repair and
maintenance; union shop preferred Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, facilities management or a related
field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical and control systems. Working knowledge
of the methods, practices, hazards, and safety precautions involved in the
operation, maintenance and repair of large buildings. Knowledge of
effective supervisory methods and techniques. Ability to read
and understand specifications and blueprints. Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of
experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities
required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not
