POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Director / Maintenance Operations, this position isresponsible for assigning and supervising the operational and maintenance tasksof the assigned schedule group. The maintenance staff is tasked with theoperation and upkeep of buildings, equipment, life safety systems, and controlsystems needed to effectively operate the university. This position interactsdirectly with other Facilities Supervisors and schedule groups, Office ofResidence Life, Conference and Events Services, Public Safety, students, andvendors.
DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES :
Plans, assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of union employees engaged inrepairs, installations, preventive maintenance, life safety system testing andinspection, and other work related to building operations. Assigns work toschedule group in response to requests from Residence Life staff and residents,Public Safety, and Facilities supervisor on call.
Utilizes TeamDynamix computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to obtain, assign,and close out work order requests from internal users, as well as scheduledinspections and maintenance.
Procures, managesand schedules service contracts and other work by outside vendors.
Maintains recordsand submits reports as required by the Facilities Department, e.g., life safetyinspection records, parts and equipment inventories, maintenance and repairlists, planned maintenance work schedules.
Regularlyinspects all assigned buildings and makes recommendations related to necessarybuilding repairs, improvements for student residents, and changes that willincrease reliability and operational efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, andincrease energy efficiency.
Completes otherduties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum qualifications :
Vocational or technical training.
3-5 years ofexperience in a responsible supervisory position involving building repair andmaintenance; union shop preferred
Preferred qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, facilities management or a relatedfield from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical and control systems.
Working knowledgeof the methods, practices, hazards, and safety precautions involved in theoperation, maintenance and repair of large buildings.
Knowledge ofeffective supervisory methods and techniques.
Ability to readand understand specifications and blueprints.
