The Machinist role at Dura Magnetics, Inc., a premier custom magnetics manufacturer, is responsible for the creation of quality precision parts through the operation of precision grinding machinery, reading, and interpreting blueprints, and completing jobs with precision, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
Responsibilities:
- Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers, to ensure accuracy in the production process.
- Set-up machining equipment by setting controls on assigned jobs
- Run various machine operations on a daily basis, which could include OD, ID, centerless and/or surface grinding.
- Run multiple machines at one time.
- Read and interpret drawings/blueprints and process documents (job travelers, engineering routes, and work instructions)
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers and other measurements
- Clean and de burr parts as necessary
- Complete precision jobs with efficiency, accuracy, and consistency
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance or product quality
- Monitor machine parameters and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with OD, ID, Centerless and Surface Grinding preferred
Position Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions; basic machinist math
- Solid understanding of quality control test equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information
- Basic computer and Excel skills
- Ability to multi-task
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to complete with or without an accommodation
- Ability to sit or stand for up to the duration of a shift
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to manipulate small parts for up to the duration of a shift

Environmental Requirements:
- Position required to work in a production environment
- Exposed to high noise
- Protective eyewear is required at all times in the production environment
- Position is exposed to machinery with moving parts
- May be exposed to varying temperatures
