Durant Public Schools is seeking candidates for Assistant Principal for the 2025-2026 school term.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Administration Required

Oklahoma Secondary Principal Certification
-
Secondary teaching and/or administrative experience totaling at least five years
-
Such alternatives or additional qualifications that the board may find appropriate.
JOB GOAL: Assume responsibility as a member of the high school administrative team to provide leadership and assist the principal with administrative duties in order to promote the educational development of each student.

Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school

Serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal
-
Observes and evaluates certified and support staff as assigned
-
Assists in the development and administration of policies dealing with discipline, conduct, attendance
-
Assists in the development of master schedules and student schedules and related activities
-
Assists in scheduling and conducting safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
-
Assists in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services
-
Assists in supervising the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions

Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary

Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives

Communicates relevant policies and procedures with regard to student discipline, conduct and attendance to students, staff and parents

Works with and assists faculty in the development of effective classroom management and organization

Assists in the development and preparation of appropriate handbooks

Assists in the supervision of school events

Assists in the selection and mentoring of staff

Assists in the care and management of the building and grounds

Supervises textbook and netbook distribution, collection and maintenance

Prepares required reports and paperwork such as discipline reports, suspension reports, expulsion paperwork, discrimination complaints, injury reports, parent communications and other paperwork as assigned

Develops and coordinates duty rosters

Assists with student teacher assignments in the high school

Assists with development, organization and implementation of in-service programs as needed

Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or District Administrator
