The Vice President (VP) of Compliance is responsible for leading and overseeing the credit union's compliance and risk management programs. This role ensures adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, internal controls, and policies as they relate to member transactions and services.
This role fosters a culture of compliance and ethical conduct while working closely with executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to develop and implement compliance strategies that protect the credit union's reputation and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee, mentor, and provide guidance to the BSA & Fraud Analyst in coordinating an effective Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Compliance Program.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the credit union's compliance program, ensuring alignment with federal and state regulations, including NCUA, CFPB, BSA/AML, OFAC, the U.S. Patriot Act, and other applicable laws.
- Assume key compliance roles, including oversight of BSA, OFAC, Customer Identification Program (CIP), Red Flag, and Elder Abuse Reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
- Oversee the development and enforcement of internal policies and procedures to mitigate risk and maintain operational integrity.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring remediation plans are effectively implemented.
- Develop compliance reporting checklists and logs to monitor, inspect, and correct deficiencies.
- Act as a liaison as it relates to compliance with regulatory agencies, auditors, and external examiners, ensuring transparency and compliance readiness.
- Develop a compliance calendar to track upcoming regulatory requirements and implementation progress.
- Manage the credit union's complaint resolution process, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and member concerns are addressed.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging compliance risks, proactively recommending enhancements.
- Assist with assessments to determine risk exposure related to new and existing products and services.
- Coordinate the credit union's vendor management program, providing quarterly status reports to executive leadership.
- Oversee compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, ensuring protection of consumer financial information.
- Ensure timely distribution of annual compliance notifications and disclosures.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure periodic employee training as required by regulations.
- Oversee AML software, recommending analytic changes and ensuring risk modules are properly configured.
- Perform other compliance-related duties as assigned.
- Complete annual BSA training and comply with the credit union's BSA and OFAC policies.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Develop and execute a strategic compliance plan that aligns with business objectives, ensuring timely completion within budget.
- Maintain high-quality relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring effective compliance support.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Compliance team, implementing measurable process enhancements.
- Ensure the credit union remains compliant with all relevant regulations, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Maintain effective cross-functional communication to ensure alignment of compliance initiatives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree plus 7-10 years of related experience in auditing compliance for financial institutions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience managing compliance-related systems (e.g., vendor management software, AML Verafin Software, Symitar Core System).
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to financial services.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
