About the role:
Duty First Consulting (DFC) seeks a Senior Communications Consultant for all aspects of communications for an engagement(s) within the Federal Health service line. This position would support a project team in the areas of strategic communications, materials development, research and analysis. The client is a large federal agency.
What the role requires:
The candidate would have a variety of responsibilities, which include developing and delivering client products, such as communications documentation, artifacts, analysis, and recommendations.
Responsibilities of this role might include but are not limited to:
- Assess and support development of communications strategy for federal health programs including drafting strategic communications plans and measuring their success
- Assist in the development and implementation of communications campaigns on a variety of health-related topics
- Review deliverables from communications analysts and provide constructive feedback that will help them develop their skills
- Generate creative and original ideas for communications products such as email messaging, videos, one-pagers, webinars, slide decks, and training modules
- Research key audiences
- Assist with stakeholder engagement efforts such as working groups, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews
What you need to be successful:
- 3-7 years of professional working experience specifically in strategic communications, social media, marketing, stakeholder engagement, program communications, or related field is required
- Understanding of strategic communications planning and implementation
- Ability to develop communications content and materials that are engaging and informative
- Excellent writing and copyediting skills
- Expertise in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, including exceptions and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail
- A passion for increasing health education and improving healthcare access and health equity
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Desire to learn complex healthcare policy concepts in a limited timeframe, and ability to apply those concepts to daily tasks
- Ability to exercise strong problem solving, and organizational skills. Includes the ability to produce consistent, insightful, high-quality work against tight deadlines
- Self-directed and can work on tasks requiring analysis, writing, and planning activities with limited guidance or oversight
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, Canva experience preferred
Required Education/Certificates
Bachelor's degree required in communications or related field.
Other important information:
- Ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed, is required.
