Position: Associate Director of Admissions, Grades 9-12 

 

Position overview

The Associate Director will be responsible for the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment for grades 9-12. The Associate Director will also serve as an ambassador for Dwight through interactions with the internal community, sending schools, educational consultants and other external communities.

 

Responsibilities of the job will include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing and managing the admissions process for all upper school applicants
  • Streamlining  the admissions process, and creating ways for the department to be as efficient and responsive as possible
  • Scheduling, interviewing and touring prospective families applying to grades 9-12.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with prospective families by marketing the school, tracking student interests, inviting families to Dwight sports and performance events, and promptly replying to all email and phone inquiries. 
  • Creatively thinking about new initiatives and ways to connect with inquiries and applicants
  • Assessing file materials including interview notes, transcripts, letters of recommendations, and standardized testing
  • Managing revisits for admitted students
  • Working closely with the Deans, faculty and senior leadership to cultivate strong relationships to further the admissions process and to understand what sets Dwight apart
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with educational consultants and placement directors 
  • Representing the school by attending school fairs and visiting individual schools 
  • Ensuring that interactions are consistent with the ISAAGNY membership agreement and representing Dwight at all ISAAGNY events 
  • Working closely with the Dwight  Financial Aid Committee  to help determine financial aid decisions for new students
  • Working closely with the Communications Department on developing, creating and implementing clear and concise Admissions materials 
  • Managing the new student and parent onboarding information sessions and this process  
  • Compiling important information and data on all incoming students and communicating this to deans, teachers, EAL and development
  • Attending bi-weekly department meetings
  • Managing the student rollover process in coordination with the Communications Department and Registrar 
  • Assisting with the management of the re-enrollment process 
  • Compiling admissions statistics and completing board reports 
  • Working with the Parents’ Association to ensure a warm welcome for incoming students 

Events

  • Plan and oversee Open House events and tours for prospective families 
  • Manage revisits for admitted students by training student buddies and 
preparing faculty, planning a lunch and arranging faculty and current students to meet with visitors based on student interest 
  • Plan new parent events and information sessions
  • Organize  placement testing and course selection for incoming HS students 
 

Stats/Procedures

  • Compile Admissions Stats 
  • Assist with general office operations and data management 
  • Compile important information on all incoming students and communicate to Deans, teachers, EAL, Quest & Development 
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 3 years of experience in Admissions
  • Strong organizations, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skilled in utilizing technology, including databases, spreadsheets, and online application platforms.


Compensation commensurate with experience: $85,000-$125,000/per annum
