As a Staff Accountant on our Finance Team, you have accountability over general accounting functions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is integral to the monthly closing process: preparation of journal entries, month-end account reconciliations, and other month-end and ad hoc reporting.
Using your accounting skills and passion for working with numbers you will play a key role in supporting our guests by:
- Preparing accurate and actionable reconciliation for assigned accounts each month in a timely manner and ensuring thorough comprehension of account balance and activity while identifying and resolving any issues
- Performing the month-end closing process and ensuring issues are surfaced and addressed utilizing the Lawson general ledger system to ensure that journal entries are accurately posted to the correct department and account
- Investigating and explaining variances between actual results versus plan/forecast. Assisting the budgeting and forecasting process by developing the annual budget for certain areas
- Preparing and publishing a variety of weekly and/or monthly reporting to help the business in assessing the performance of retail stores, variances to plan, and financial statements
- Preparing schedules and requests for the Company's external auditors
- Providing maintenance of the Lawson Asset Management system, including processing of invoices, disposals, and transfers of assets between stores
We're looking for someone:
- With a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- A minimum of 2 years' experience with general ledger accounting including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation. Retail industry experience a plus, but not required.
- That has experience with Lawson systems is a plus, but not required
- With excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
