Role Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior Manager, Solar Development with experience overseeing solar projects from early stages through construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coordinating teams across land negotiations, permitting, real estate, and interconnection, along with the ability to manage resources and contractors effectively. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with teams across development, asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance to keep projects on track and aligned with strategic objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and oversee teams in areas ranging from land acquisition to engineering to interconnection to ensure smooth project execution
- Oversee a team to advance renewable energy projects from early development through close & operations
- Expand a portfolio of the company’s projects within key U.S. markets
- Supervise projects by managing budgets & schedules
- Assist in the negotiation of project agreements
- Prioritize portfolios based on key metrics and opportunities
- Handle permitting processes, including coordination with local authorities and securing entitlements
- Work with internal & external team members to evaluate sites, optimize design and refine strategies
- Lead due diligence efforts in the region
- Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate risks and opportunities
Qualifications
- Experience in renewable energy project development, specifically within key U.S. markets
- Background in interconnection, permitting, contracting, and project financing
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as finance, renewable energy, construction management, or a related discipline preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Ability to excel in a fast-moving environment
- Must be available to work from the regional office a few days per week
- Willingness to travel part of the time
- Flexibility for additional travel as project needs arise
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to build strong relationships
