Plastisud is a leading global provider of tooling systems for caps/closure, medical/pharma, and thin wall packaging. From 2s cycle times with mold sizes ranging from 16 to 144 cavities, single face injection molds, and patented injection / compression technology stack systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing molds for both Plastisud and Dynamic.
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plastic Injection Mold Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing and troubleshooting plastic injection molding processes to ensure the processing of high-quality parts. They will, from time to time, assist and train customer personnel in performing mold maintenance.
This role requires travel, both domestic and international, with an initial training period in France.
Responsibilities
Mold Installation and Setup:
- Install molds into injection molding machines and set up related auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct mold changeovers and load appropriate process parameters for development trials and short production runs.
Process Management:
- Start machines after mold or material changes and shut them down as needed.
- Maintain and adjust process parameters to ensure the process stays within specified limits.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
- Identify and resolve molding and tooling issues to ensure seamless processing.
- Troubleshoot issues with high-cavitation molds and a variety of materials, from highly engineered to basic commodity resins.
Documentation and Communication:
- Thoroughly document process parameters and findings during processing runs.
- Communicate results and updates effectively through verbal and written presentations to internal and external customers.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform quality checks on parts during processing and document findings.
- Ensure all products meet specified standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications
- Proficient in using scientific methodologies for process development trials.
- Familiar with RJG and Kistler systems for process monitoring and control.
- Expertise in high-cavitation molds and a broad range of plastic materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to dynamic production challenges.
- Associate Degree in Plastics Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Plastic Processing preferred.
- Candidate must have a valid passport and be eligible for international travel, including obtaining necessary visas if required.
Travel Requirements
- This role requires 30% travel, including destinations in the USA, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Europe.
- Onboarding will require training in France, with an expectation of spending two weeks per month in France for the first six months.
- All travel expenses, including flights, accommodations, and per diem, will be covered per company policy.
