Position :iSeries Developer III

Our Client Company is an independent subsidiary of an asset-based multi-regional transportation solutions provider offering less-than-truckload, truckload, dedicated contract carriage, brokerage, fleet maintenance, and international services. Our cross-brand integrations with other subsidiaries provide extended direct coverage and resources across a substantial area of the United States. Additionally, our robust Affiliate Carrier Program extends the Company’s Transportation coverage area into Canada, Mexico, and across the globe.

Technology is a key enabler for our customers and a key focus for the company. The current technology infrastructure is based on two complementary environments. One is the IBM i (iSeries, AS400) and the other is Microsoft .NET, with client-side scripts using SQL Server for the database backend. The adoption of new technologies is a constant endeavor to make sure we are quick to respond to changing market needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

We are seeking a skilled developer with experience in RPG Free, a common IBM i (iSeries, AS400) development language. We are interested in developers with strong backgrounds in building scalable, predictable, high-quality, and high-performance applications who are open to learning new platforms and languages associated with the IBM i.

Essential duties include:

• Leverage current development skill to gain proficiency in developing on the IBM i platform using RPG Free
• Develop new functionality on our existing software products and platforms.
• Enhance and update existing functionality in the field.
• Participate in a small, experienced, energetic team on a rapid development schedule.
• Focus on integration (API, middleware services) across multiple platforms.
• Other responsibilities/duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Five or more years' experience in RPG Free in an IBM i development.
• Prior experience with PHP or JAVA development language would be a plus.
• Experience with the development of integration services using RESTFUL services.
• Exposure to IBM’s Rational Development environment, Access Client Solutions, and Midrange Dynamics is a plus.
• Other products considered a plus are RPG API Express, Fortra (GoAnyWhere), CNX Valance and Fresche (Formtastic).
• Experience with HTML, CSS and client-side scripts including JavaScript, jQuery, Sencha, and similar technologies.
• Candidate must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented, responsible team-player and exhibit exceptional relationship

management skills.

Be able to work cross platform between the two primary environments.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field of study and/or a minimum of five years' experience in application development.

Other Qualifications:

Experience in transportation and/or logistics will be considered a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
