The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.
The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Director, Information Technology will manage and direct the company’s information technology (IT) strategy and operations. The position will ensure the department provides an effective technical support service while also efficiently driving business strategies that rely on IT/AV systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Lead strategic development and implementation planning for the organization’s IT systems.
- Provide regular reports to Leadership team on all projects and new initiatives as identified.
- Prepare, maintain, and manage IT budget.
- Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
- Establish efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
- Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
- Coordinate and work with the Major League Soccer IT Department to meet compliance of League expectations and standards.
- Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
- Facilitate IT security audits or investigations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Match Day Functions
- Be the liaison for IT issues on game days
- Oversee PT IT staff roles and responsibilities on game days
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science required; masters degree or MBA preferred
- 5 to 7 years of experience managing an IT department.
- 3 years’ experience in working with network hardware systems required.
- Licenses or certificates: CompTIA A , CompTIA Network , CompTIA Security , CCNA
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Desktop and Server OS, MacOS, iOS, and Android
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
- Understanding of enterprise networking and systems administration.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and IT best practices.
- Capacity to conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
- Ability to identify problems and their root causes, and to develop and recommend effective solutions.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills at all levels of the organization and with external contacts
