SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the coordinator is responsible for school threat investigations, safety practices, and emergency response preparedness for schools and district sites. This includes, but is not limited to, investigations, emergency response, emergency operation plans, safety training for staff, students, and parents, communication and accountability.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor office and outdoor environment including exposure to loud noise and being on your feet. May require some work in the field with moderate exposure to travel.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the coordinator is responsible for school threat investigations, safety practices, and emergency response preparedness for schools and district sites. This includes, but is not limited to, investigations, emergency response, emergency operation plans, safety training for staff, students, and parents, communication and accountability.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist site administrators with investigations of threats and egregious student behavior.
- Provide staff, student, and parent groups guidance and training based on student discipline data regarding safety and/or local/national trends.
- Ensure compliance of site Emergency Operation Plans (EOPs) and school emergency response drills.
- Coordinate communication between the district and law enforcement agencies.
- Consult with school SROs and provide guidance for security guards.
- Facilitate training for site and district EOP development, drill requirements, Incident Command System (ICS), and School Emergency Response Teams (SERT).
- Facilitate table top training with district staff and unified response teams.
- Maintain monthly fire drill compliance in communication with our Maintenance Department.
- Coordinate with site administrators and departments to address site safety needs.
- Attend site and local safety collaboration meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of codes, rules and regulations related to school safety.
- Develop and maintain operational and procedural manuals related to district safety, including during emergency situations such as a pandemic.
- Maintain and update emergency response documents for staff and parents.
- Monitor the Dysart Safe Report responses daily.
- Establish positive and collaborative working relationships with district staff, students, families and the public.
- Communicate with staff, parents, and community on all issues regarding safety.
- Assess district wide or site safety needs and be able to respond by providing training, information, or hands on support.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Completion of FEMA courses IS-100C, IS-200B, and IS-700B required.
- Bachelor's or associate's degree preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in law enforcement, safety, and security.
- Experience developing and delivering training and professional development for small and large groups.
- Experience facilitating table top scenarios and emergency response training.
- Experience with threat assessments, protocols, and investigations.
- Experience working as a lead in responding to emergency situations, PIO preferred.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
- The day to day functions of school and district operations.
- School safety practices and expectations.
- Emergency response drills and ICS responsibilities.
- School emergency operation plans and minimum requirement guidelines.
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Preferred
- Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
