POSITION OVERVIEW
DZL Management Company, LLC is seeking an experienced accountant to join our accounting team. This person will be responsible for preparing journal entries, accounts receivable, reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial statements, handling month end close, etc. The accountant will function under the direction of the Controller and will be responsible for supporting the accounting needs for one or more of DZL's operations.

The Station District neighborhood sits in Nashville’s downtown urban core, inside the SoBro and Gulch neighborhoods. The campus spans 16 contiguous acres, with numerous core infill sites ready for development, anchored by iconic adaptive reuse properties, cornerstones of the city. DZL owns and operates Cummins Station, Cannery Hall, a licensed Starbucks, a high-end cocktail bar and a co-working space.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produces income statement and balance sheet accurately for multiple entities, on schedule, monthly.
- Conducts account reconciliation, manages accounts, and updates journal entries.
- Processes accounts receivable and follows-up on outstanding balances; prepares weekly A/R report
- Prepares general ledger entries and inputs into appropriate accounting software.
- Maintains and monitors monthly account analysis and reconciliations for general ledger accounts and reconciles items and issues noted in a timely manner.
- Prepares and maintains various financial reports, including balance sheets and cash flow forecasts for senior management.
- Completes month-end, quarterly and annual closing of accounts in a timely manner.
- Conducts bank reconciliation for corporate accounts.
- Analyzes and interprets financial data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP, government regulatory reporting and tax filings.
- Prepares, computes, files and pays local, state and federal taxes.
- Assists external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals, as needed.
- Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Controller.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a corporate accounting environment.
- Proven track record in managing financial operations for multiple properties or entities simultaneously
- Prior experience with Yardi, M3, and QuickBooks online accounting software
- CMA or CPA designation, preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting and financial principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage large amounts of financial data efficiently.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods while working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
