Job Summary
Urbanex, a leading provider in the pest control industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a strong background in accrual accounting. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing company, contributing to our financial strategy and operations.
Working alongside our VP, Finance and the accounting team members, your key responsibilities will include:
- Accrual Accounting: Ensure accurate recording of revenues and expenses in compliance with GAAP.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct regular account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain the integrity of the financial data.
- Month-End Close: Work with the team through the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Process Implementation and Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.
- Fixed Asset and Inventory Management: Review and improve processes while managing our fixed assets (mostly vehicles) and inventory.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team members to support overall financial management and strategic planning.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or equivalent certification a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on accrual accounting. Experience in the pest control or a related service industry is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Quickbooks Online, accounts payable systems (e.g. Melio, bill.com) and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments to achieve common goals.
