Position: Director Domestic Business Development Counter-Unmanned Aerial Products

Location: Remote

On-site / Hybrid: Remote

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Domestic Business Development, Counter-Unmanned Aerial Products in the defense industry. This person will be leading and executing strategic sales initiatives to identify, cultivate, and secure new business opportunities within the US defense market, working closely with key government agencies and military branches to drive significant revenue growth for the company by leveraging deep industry knowledge and strong customer relationships. They must have experience working with the Navy and Marine Corps and a comprehensive understanding of export controls and compliance regulations

Required Duties And Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential growth areas within the domestic defense sector, including emerging technologies and evolving customer needs.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive domestic business development strategies aligned with company goals and market trends.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activity to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within the DoD, including program managers, acquisition officials, and senior military leadership.
  • Actively engage with customer stakeholders to understand their requirements, pain points, and future procurement plans.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing customer accounts.

Opportunity Capture And Proposal Development

  • Lead capture teams in identifying and qualifying potential business opportunities, including developing winning strategies, shaping requirements, and identifying teaming partners.
  • Oversee the development of compelling proposals, ensuring technical accuracy, competitive pricing, and alignment with customer needs.
  • Manage the proposal process, including technical writing, cost estimating, and compliance with government regulations.

Business Development Activities

  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to build relationships and generate new leads.
  • Conduct customer presentations and demonstrations to showcase company capabilities and solutions.
  • Develop and execute targeted marketing campaigns to promote company products and services to key defense customers.

Compliance And Export Controls

  • Ensure strict adherence to all international export control regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Manage necessary licensing processes for export of defense technologies and products.
  • Stay updated on evolving export control laws and regulations.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Deep understanding of the domestic defense industry, including key players, market trends, and geopolitical considerations.
  • Proven track record of success in defense business development, particularly within the Navy, Marine Corps, DHS, and Coast Guard.
  • Exceptional ability to build rapport and maintain strong relationships with senior-level military and government officials.
  • Capability to develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with company goals
  • Expertise in export control regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Experience in technical writing and proposal writing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a team orientation

Education And Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 years sales experience in domestic defense market
  • Familiarity with government contracting regulations and procedures
  • High proficiency with business software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Salesforce CRM
  • Must be capable of working non-standard work hours as required including evenings, and weekends.

Travel Requirements: Must be capable of international travel up to 40% of the time

Other Requirements

It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.

Salary

Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or $annual bonus.
