Role: Mechanical Designer (HVAC | Plumbing | Fire Protection | Revit Proficient)
Location: Rochester, NY/Charlotte, NC/Onsite

As a Mechanical BIM Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role not only in designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems but also in shaping the way we work as a company. In this role, you will:
- Manage BIM model and all related workflows for a given project (with the ability to manage multiple projects at once).
- Set up sheet views.
- Create Revit content (i.e. families, etc.) required for projects.
- Manage Revit backgrounds and linking in other disciplines (i.e. architectural, electrical, structural, etc.).
- Manage all BIM360 postings and all model related project tasks holistically.
- Attend internal project meetings to organize BIM tasks.
- Take ownership of designing/modeling HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and fire protection layouts.
- Collaborate closely with design team members, vendors, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve project goals.
- Perform thorough reviews of drawings and documentation to uphold quality control and standards.
- Develop and maintain Revit/CAD templates and internal standards to optimize processes.
- Serve as a proactive team player — bringing ideas, volunteering for challenges, and maintaining a positive, collaborative attitude.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate of Science degree (AAS) or Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Drafting and Design or related field, Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, or certification in drafting and BIM modeling preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of project related Revit experience and the ability to create new content including parametric families, sheets setup, view creation, model exports, manage BIM360 project requirements (posting, sharing, consuming, etc.).
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Code Knowledge: General understanding of industry standards, building codes, and energy compliance tools like COMcheck or Energy Gauge Summit.
- Soft Skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with team members.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Coordination: Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil project team members.
- Time Management: Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask.
- Quality Control: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in drawings.
