Role: Mechanical Designer
Location: Springdale, AR (Onsite)
Job Type: Fulltime/Permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of projects while adhering to contractual requirements.
- Work closely with designers, programmers, project managers, and fabricators to develop high-quality solutions.
- Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, providing regular updates.
- Research and specify equipment and components to ensure system compatibility and performance.
- Develop 2D and 3D layouts, considering facility constraints, accessibility, and ergonomics.
- Produce detailed manufacturing prints, cut files, and bills of materials (BOMs) while maintaining company standards.
- Incorporate metal fabrication and machine shop processes into design considerations.
- Utilize SolidWorks for 3D modeling of weldments, equipment, and layouts.
- Create 2D system layouts within building infrastructure using AutoCAD and/or DraftSight.
- Ensure structural integrity in product development through collaboration with design teams.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Lead and facilitate design reviews, integrating feedback from project teams and clients.
- Manage design revisions and approvals, ensuring proper documentation.
- Prepare and review quotes, change orders, specification sheets, and design hour estimates.
- Organize and maintain project documentation according to company filing methodologies.
- Ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining high-quality output.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements while maintaining job proficiency.
- Recommend design modifications to resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Conduct field measurements of existing equipment, utilities, and facilities for design purposes.
- Perform quality checks and support installation, setup, and system integration as needed.
- Travel to customer and vendor facilities as required (typically less than 10%, including overnight stays).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with company driving policies.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain awareness of worksite hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based, with occasional exposure to construction sites and extreme weather conditions.
- Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per job site regulations.
- Frequent collaboration in high-pressure environments.
- Operation of standard office equipment (computers, fax machines, photocopiers, etc.).
- Manual dexterity required for computer use, with occasional stooping, bending, and mobility for handling files and supplies.
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and arms.
- Maintain focus and alertness for extended periods to ensure accuracy and safety.
Required Skills & Competencies
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- 1–5 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Strong verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to produce precise technical plans, drawings, and 3D models.
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles and material properties.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to develop rough design concepts and refine them into detailed, build-ready solutions.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or DraftSight.
- Knowledge of tolerancing for machining.
- Understanding of metal fabrication, welding, and machining processes.
- Experience designing for wash-down environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
