What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machine Operators position at E.C. Styberg Engineering Company?
As a member of the machining team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of a variety of machines in the shop including CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, Laser Welders, Weld Around, Hobbers/Shapers, Laser Cutters, Pull Broach, and Pot Broach machines.

- Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
- Load/unload parts to be machined, positioning, securing, and aligning with cutting tools or tool holders on machines
- Run machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.
- Study blueprints, layouts, or charts, and job order information on specification and tooling instructions to determine operational sequences
- Inspect parts to ensure product specifications are met utilizing a variety of measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and a variety of gauges/tools
Qualifications:
- Seeking candidates with a minimum of 1 year of previous machine operation experience, preferably in CNC lathes/mills, Laser welders/cutters, hobbers/shapers, etc.
- Knowledge of machines, including set up and changeover of tooling
- Position requires excellent math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow a variety of blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Ability to take precise measurements utilizing a variety of inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, and a variety of gauges/tools
- Ability to work 10 hours in a physically active and challenging environment that includes but is not limited to; walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Key Information:
- potential to earn multi-machine premiums and piece-rate on top of your hourly rate of pay. rate (41-48 hours earns time and a half, 49 double time)
- Train on 1st shift – 5 AM – 3 PM (Monday – Friday) & 5 AM – 10 AM on Saturdays – will move to 2nd shift after 90 days 3 PM - 1 AM (Monday - Friday) and a mid-shift on Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM
