What are the responsibilities and job description for the Punch Press Machine Operator position at E.C. Styberg Engineering Company?
The Punch Press Machine Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut shape and form metal utilizing presses up to 1,000 tons.
Responsibilities Include:
- Set up, adjust, and operate punch press to perform operations such as punch, blank, form, coin, etc.
- Position and align die members and secure by bolting the bottom section to the press bed or bolster plate, secure the top section to the ram by using ram “T” slot bolts and nuts
- Set up multiple-purpose adjustable punching dies for dimensional requirements specific to individual jobs.
- Set up and synchronize automatic material feeds
- Use scales, calipers, micrometers, templates, patterns, or samples to set up and check the quality of work
Qualifications:
- 1 previous year of manufacturing experience preferably in heavy machine operation
- The position requires excellent math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow a variety of blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Ability to take precise measurements utilizing a variety of inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, and a variety of gauges/tools
- Ability to work 10 hours in a physically active and challenging environment that includes but is not limited to; walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Key Information:
- potential to earn multi-machine premiums and piece rate incentive on top of your hourly rate of pay. (41-48 hours earns time and a half, 49 double time)
- Train on 1st shift – 5 AM – 3 PM (Monday – Friday) & 5 AM – 10 AM on Saturdays – will move to 2nd shift after 90 days 3 PM - 1 AM (Monday - Friday) and a mid-shift on Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM
