What are the responsibilities and job description for the Naknek-King Salmon Runner - Summer Job - Bristol Bay Alaska position at E&E Foods?
E&E Foods is looking for a responsible, organized, self-starter to run and manage our satellite office in King Salmon, Alaska. King Salmon is our hub for freight, mail, and people who will be arriving to and departing from our plant on the beach at Coffee Point (a 30-minute flight away) and the closest major city to our Coffee Point salmon processing operation. Part of the job will include performing similar logistical tasks for the Naknek plants in the broader Canfisco group. Becoming familiar with the King Salmon/Naknek area and being a good community member as the face of E&E Foods for the duration of the summer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Picking up Mail and Packages from USPS, airport, and freight hubs and delivering to plant/air charter, tracking packages and mail.
- Picking up parts orders and fulfilling other requests for supplies as they occur
- Meeting incoming employees on numerous and varied airline flights & transporting them to charter flights to the plant.
- Greeting employees and sub-contractors in a welcoming and friendly manner
- Keeping track of names and arrival times of passengers
Required Skills/Abilities:
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in a variety of situations.
2. Ability to work independently and make quick, sound decisions in uncertain situations.
3. Proficiency in computer skills for communicating effectively with office personnel.
4. Willingness to work on a varied schedule as the situation demands.
5. Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks requiring strength, agility, and endurance.
6. A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
Salary & Benefits:
The starting wage is $17.50 - $20 per hour.
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT is weather dependent: ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy and wet. Traveling back and forth between shops and then in a remote environment is not an experience for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations. People who struggle with mobility should consider employment in another department or a different industry.
NATURE & HOURS OF WORK: The season runs from mid-June to the end of July. Hours and days of work are dependent upon the arrival/departure schedules of employees, as well as the ongoing needs of the processing facility, however, a successful candidate can expect to work 8-12 hours/day, 7 days/week.
LIVING CONDITIONS: This position is located in the Naknek/King Salmon region. Housing – will have access to a room and shared bathroom, with the possibility of needing to share a room at times with others of the same sex. There are limited health care options readily accessible. Room and meals will be included.
