Opportunity: As Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for ensuring products are obtained in the most cost-effective manner possible, while ensuring jobs are impacted as minimally as possible.
Key Duties:
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items, recommending alternatives
- Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling deliveries of purchased items
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval
- Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring and expediting orders
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered
- Resolves shipments in error with suppliers
- Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation
- Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents
- Keeps computer stock items up to date with most recent purchase history
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
- Review and provide job cost estimate for electrical bids based on blueprints or technician notes
- Provide customer quotes in a time-sensitive fashion
- Answer phones and provide excellent customer service for questions and any service calls
- Create service dispatches for both electrical and HVAC service calls
- Process warranty claims and provide service technicians with warranty information while on jobsites
Requirements / Success Factors:
- Desire to join a reputable company and maintain its integrity
- Understanding of the construction industry documents; blueprints, site plans, code books, etc. (basic understanding ok – willing to teach this)
- Experience with legal documents and contracts a plus
- Must be computer savvy with strong MS Word, Excel, and Outlook experience
- Extremely well organized, detail-oriented, efficient and reliable
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Self-starter that can manage multiple tasks and responsibilities within deadlines
- Ability to perform independently and as part of a close-knit team
