E.J. Jaxtimer, Builder, Inc. founded in 1978, is an award-winning company which has become one of the largest, most trusthworthy, and successful companies on Cape Cod and the Islands. Although we began as a building company, we now offer our clients much more, including landscape construction, gardening, property management, custom millwork, and concierge services to meet all the needs of our residential estates. E. J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc. is very involved in the community and engaged in extensive philanthropy on Cape Cod and the Islands.
We are seeking a full-time Estimator for our building group which specializes in high-end residential construction.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Consult with clients, vendors, and employees including field staff to discuss and formulate cost estimates and resolve issues.
- Analyze design and engineering drawings and product specifications to accurately determine time, cost, material and labor estimates and information gaps
- Price individual items of work scope, and obtain subcontractor bids, material and labor quotes.
- Attend subcontractor site walkthroughs during bid processes
- Prepare estimates and cost comparisons for selecting vendors or subcontractors on each project.
- Convert bids to orders. Create purchase agreements or contacts as required
- Monitor and update material selections using Excel Workbooks with embedded product images and descriptions. Track and document customer purchases being delivered to Jaxtimer's office
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, services or processes. Track actual costs relative to bids as project develops
- At regular intervals, prepare expenditures statements and other necessary documentation for the duration of the projects. Review active project budgets through cost monitoring and reporting with trackable detailed spreadsheets
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- At times, prepare sketches, simple floor plans, and electronic images on small projects
Required:
- High School education or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in construction estimating
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the processes involved in the construction industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to multi task and meet deadlines
Preferred:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Profit and Loss
- Knowledge of SketchUp or equivalent
Candidates must be well organized and be able to effectively communicate with clients management, employees and sub-contractors. We are looking for a motivated team-player with residential construction experience who can multi-task, meet deadlines and possesses a strong attention to detail and quality. .
