Overview
E2 is looking for a Director of Engineering, for our Transmission department, to join our team in Los Angeles/Pasadena to support several major electric utility clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical oversight, mentorship, and direction of engineering teams working on a portfolio of projects or multiple individual projects for various clients. They will collaborate with other departments to execute the engineering and design components of projects, leveraging the knowledge and experience of your team. Mentoring, training, and supporting engineers will be a key part of the role. Partner with project managers to plan, direct, and monitor project teams, ensuring all technical aspects of transmission line engineering are executed effectively. Monitor technical resources and workload forecasts, manage the scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure the overall quality and technical accuracy of project designs. The position will work under the direction of the VP of Engineering Services.
Responsibilities
- Working with executive leadership, provide input and set short-term and long-term goals and metrics for the engineering and CAD organizations.
- Provide input to written and financial business plans and have ultimate responsibility for meeting or beating annual goals.
- Achieve stated targets for engineering and CAD recruiting and retention performance.
- Work with department managers, project managers and other counterparts in all offices, to direct and coordinate resources in the most effective manner considering client needs and business objectives.
- Overall responsibility for the Engineering and CAD organizations Quality Control processes.
- Working with department managers and other senior technical staff, makes recommendations and modifications to current systems and processes, and defines strategies for effectiveness and execution of the program, developing processes and/or implementing systems or software for quality reviews and developing a consistent quality training program to keep Quality best in class.
- Develop standards, guidelines, or handbooks to support engineering and CAD execution team’s consistency and efficiency.
- Prepare and monitor engineering organization budget and expenditure of funds for staffing hours, supplies, training, and equipment.
- Representing the technical organization in client meetings, interviews, and presentations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 8 years of experience in project management of utility transmission line projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical transmission system (69kV through 500kV)
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain registration.
- Direct experience working with electric utility consulting company.
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in managerial role.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
Salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
