What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer - Mechanical position at E3 Company?
BASIC FUNCTION
The basic function of the Designer is to perform detailed design work for development of E3 products and work practices. Responsibilities in this role may also include support of external customer request regarding engineering needs. The Designer additionally will work directly with Service Operations and Sales to produce technical literature, internal procedures and training matererials. Success in this position will be reliant upon the employee’s ability to work with initiative, independent judgement, and moderate engineering supervision. Experience with a PLM platform is a benefit.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Devolopment
- Ensures Engineering’s fit, form, and function of designs released to production and/or vendors.
- Produces and revises BOMs and Production drawings.
- Aid in the production of Operations Manuals.
- Uses applicable skills to create part/assembly concepts to be evaluated by the E3 team.
Production
- Ensure Drafting standards are upheld.
- Verify drawing dimensions to E3 and customer parts.
- Aid in deployment of PLM.
- Support Engineering with transferring data into PLM.
Quality Assurance
- Support the ISO requirements and quality goals of the company.
- Support Quality Control Plans for in-house operations.
Operations Support
- Produce support designs and drawings for service and manufacturing.
- Investigate jib/fixtures and/or tooling to allow associates to work more efficiently and safety.
- Assembly Line and Plant Layout drawings.
- Investigation of new processes – (ball and seat lapping, paint booth, wiring).
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel quarterly to participate in engineering function at local facilities.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time to perform computer assisted duties.
- Ability to support and maintain drafting standards.
DESIRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2 yr technical degree with 2-5 yrs experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Technical Problem-Solving and Mechanical/Electrical Aptitude is required of the candidate.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and technical knowledge to develop solutions.
- Experience with ISO based Quality System.
- Prior experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Strong technical and written communications skills.
- Proven experience with P&ID’s, build instructions and CAD principles (Solidworks skills preferred).
