Commerical SF/CW CAD Drafter
Why This Role Matters:
As a Drafting Minion, you will be the single point contact to creating a critical design document for fabrication and installation, and no one wants the rain on the inside of the building. You will be responsible for drafting completed shop drawings for Exterior and Interior Storefront, Curtainwall, Window Systems, Sunshades, and All Glass elevations. You will compile these on our predefined templates with key plans, elevations, and details to meet the architectural and structural drawings as required.
You will work with our in house engineering team to include engineering notations regarding steel reinforcement and perimeter fasteners. You will be the sole responsible party on the projects you are assigned from beginning to completion, so it is important that you take your work as a personal expression of your level of awesome.
This will be a position in the newly formed drafting division, working for a drafting manager with 30 years of construction experience, 15 of which is glass and glazing focused, 8 of that in specifically drafting shops. This can be an in person position in Appleton, WI or Fort Smith, Arkansas, and depending on skillset and experience could be fully remote.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop 2D CAD drawings based on architectural and structural contract documents and pertinent engineering input
- Attention to detail is critical. Knowledge of building systems and the contract documents and how to read them is required.
- Work closely with our clients to provide the best field document for use by their fabricators and installers.
- Make revisions as necessary through the submittal approval process and field revisions
- Perform quality control checks on your work to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain an organized library of drawings, files, and project documentation
- Contribute to improving our drafting and design processes
- Jump in where needed to support the team—especially on fast-moving commercial jobs
What We're Looking For:
- AutoCAD experience is required
- Experience with or exposure to commercial window systems, curtainwall, storefronts, or glazing is highly encouraged, but can not required
- Ability to read architectural and structural drawings
- Associate degree, certification, or equivalent experience in drafting, design, architecture, or engineering preferred
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
- A team player who’s hungry to learn, grow, and take ownership
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with aluminum, glass, or construction drawings—but we’ll train the right person who demonstrates a willingness to learn and grow.
